The 2024 NewCluster workshop

NewCluster data release and building science working group


Welcome to the NewCluster workshop page. The workshop will be held on 26 - 30 August 2024 in Seoul (Yonsei University) and Gangneung (St. John's Hotel).

  • 8.26: Public workshop at Yonsei University (Science Hall B101)
  • 8.27-30: Internal workshop for NC working groups in Gangneung

We highly recommend you stay at the same venue for a smooth workshop, especially for Gangneung. This workshop will focus on the introduction and data release of the state-of-the-art galaxy cluster zoom-in simulation, "NewCluster". Also, we plan to build the early science working group using NewCluster, and prepare the hands-on data session.

Public workshop invitation

첫 번째 NewCluster (NC) 워크숍에 초대합니다. NC는 현존하는 최고 (공간, 질량, 시간) 해상도 은하단 시뮬레이션입니다. 현황 요약은 다음과 같습니다.

  • 은하단 질량: z=0 추정질량 5x10^14 Msun (z=1 현재 1.3x10^14)
  • 공간: 은하단 주위 3.5 R_200
  • 별질량 해상도: 2x10^4 Msun
  • 공간 해상도(best): 70 pc
  • 스냅숏간 시간 간격: 15 Myr
  • 시뮬레이션: 2022년 5월 시작, 현재 z=1 도착
  • Astrophysics: Stellar/AGN Feedback, dust, gas tracer particles, 9 chemical elements

z=50에서 시작한 NC는 현재 z=1에 도착하여, JWST 등을 활용한 “초기우주” 연구에 적합합니다. 이에, >조촐한 워크숍을 통해, 현황과 자료 접근법을 소개하고자 합니다.

  • 프로그램: 오전 (현황 소개), 오후 (데이터 세션, 자료 접근 논의, 노트북 지참)
